Your list, not somebody else's

ExcerptDraw does not ship a repertoire. You type the excerpt labels you are actually preparing, or paste a whole list at once with one entry per line, and the app tells you how many cards it read before you add them. Every label is yours, so it works for any instrument and any audition.

Give a card an optional reminder if there is something you want to see only when you choose to. Save as many lists as you like and keep them for different auditions.

One card at a time

Choose how many cards the round should hold, and set a fixed opener if you want to start on a particular excerpt. The opener counts toward the round size. The rest are drawn at random from the list, and no card comes up twice inside the same round.

Then the round begins. The current excerpt fills the screen at a size you can read from a music stand, with the card number and the round length in a small count beside it. The cards still to come are concealed, so you cannot look ahead and prepare for them, which is the whole point of the exercise.

If two of your labels happen to be identical, ExcerptDraw treats them as two separate cards. It reads the words you typed and does not try to work out whether they mean the same piece.

Your place is kept exactly

Tap Played to move on. Tap back if you advanced by mistake, and you return to the card you were on without the round recording it twice.

Leave the app, lock the phone, take a call, come back tomorrow. The round is exactly where you left it: same card, same order, same flags. Nothing reshuffles behind your back, and starting a new round while one is still open asks you first rather than quietly replacing it.

Editing or deleting a list does not disturb a round already in progress. The round holds its own copy of the labels from the moment it started.

Flag now, revisit properly

When an excerpt does not go the way you wanted, flag it and keep going. The flag does not interrupt the round and it does not bring that card back around a second time.

At the end you get a review of what you played and what you flagged, and you can add a note to the round. From there you can start a separate revisit round drawn only from the cards you flagged. It is a new round, deliberately, rather than a retry stitched into the old one.

Recent rounds stay on the device so you can reopen a review later.
